Iim wanting to build my own on board CO2 setup.I have searched for the answer to this and come up short.
i was wondering if you could use a scuba tank or a oxygen tank.insted of the traditional CO2 tank.every where ive looked they have just used a co2 tank from a bevrage despenser.I want to use a extra oxygen tank i had lying around and didnt know if it would hold up???
Any input is greatly appreciated

I have my CO2 filled to 5000psi and I doubt your oxygen take could take the pressure. I also use a nitrogen regulator because it flows better and doesn't freeze up as fast. If you mount it somewhere you plan to use it, by this I mean you don't plan on taking it out to use it, mount it upright otherwise it will freeze up by the time you get to the second tire. You can get smaller bottles than the 20lb ones used for soda fountains but I like that size and if you're close I have 5 in the garage and I'd let one or two go cheap.

I'm just outside Chattanooga and look for an Airgas, that's where I get my tanks and get them filled. Metal tanks are cheaper and I just trade them in so I don't have to pay for recertification every 4-5 years. My 20lb bottles are 10 bucks to swap. 5lb won't do much, more for paintballs. 10lb is more common and what most kits use like powertank and such.
I have the "Ultimate Air" 10lb set-up which is a 10lb Catalina scuba tank. I got it with the high flow regulator so I could run air tools if needed. I usually go an entire season on one fill. If I run out of CO2 its no big deal, I have a ARB compressor on board as well. Its the one made for filling tires or running the lockers.
The CO2 fills a tire in less than a minute but the compressor might take 2-3 min to raise a tire from 12psi to 30psi
Here is a pic of my CO2 set-up

just got a 80c catalina scuba tank and a first stage with high and low pressure outs. got the tank from a dive store and the first stage on ebay. its 3000 psi, I'm not sure how this size compares to that 10 lb. but I'm hoping it lasts awhile airing up 35's all summer. Is anyone else running a scuba type tank for onboard air? I'd like to know how people like em.

I should have started my own thread on this one, my tank is not filled with CO2. it is filled at the scuba shop. That ultimate air tank is a catalina like mine and I just wanted to see how my set up would be in comparison. I would definetly not fill a high pressure cylinder with something that shouldnt be in there.
