Default bike carrier

Hi, I'm looking to put a roof mounted bike carrier on my 1993 Jeep Cherokee, attaching it to the standard roof bars. Can anyone suggest a make and model that would be appropriate, there seems to be some doubt as to how practical a proposition this is due to the curved profile of the bars fitted although it has been suggested by a supplier of bike carriers that the Thule 591 carrier may be suitable.

many thanks,

John

I prefer Yakama myself but nothing is wrong with Thule. Anyway two crossbars, 4 Cherokee specific Mounts that bolt into your factory rails add the bike rails fore and aft and you are good to go.

I mounted the bikemounts to the far outside so the camp grar was loaded in the middle of the roof. Placing the bike mounts to the outside allows quick access to the bikes for side trips inroute as well as easy on and off.

I don't recall part#'s but the rail is about 5" long with a front piece angled up about 45 degrees rot yhe front wheel to be strapped too.

Have fun! RB
