Default Best travel shocks.

I'm looking for new shocks for my 6.5" lift since the ones that came with it are too short.
I've looked around the web and still not to sure what to get since I rarely shop around.
What are you fellow XJ'ers running for serious flex on a 6.5" lift?

You need to remove your existing shocks and then flex the suspesion. Measure the distance between the mounts for both compressed and extended lengths. Once you have the dimensions you'll be ready go shopping.

You can start shopping right here:

the rear suspention on my 87 has been going out for a while, went flexing today for some pics and saw my bushing on the top passenger side was busted and my shock was hanging there.

i need to replace both sides because they are going out anyways. i have a 3.5in lift and no idea what the max length is like what you were saying earlier.

i was recomended these on rustys by one of my buddies http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchan...ory_Code=RX-XJ. he said they might be a little big but they would work.

i found these on yours http://www.seriousoffroadproducts.co...ducts_id=77769. 1st, does yours come with 2, or are they just that expensive, and if so, why might yours be better?

I want something good, but i am a collage kid working a part time job, some i dont exactly have a lot of money to spend.

There's simply no comparison. Bilstein is simply a better shock in every respect.

Bilsteins have been the gold standard for a very long time.
from Bilstein:
BILSTEIN´s mono-tube technology
The original and best: The original mono-tube gas pressure shock absorbers bore the BILSTEIN name, and we’re still responsible for producing the best there is. BILSTEIN’s mono-tube technology is the number-one choice in motorsports and series-production sports cars: no other type gives engineers the same freedom to choose the perfect installation location or position (e.g. Upside-Down technology).

Large effective surface on the working piston creates increased damping power and better handling
Improved dissipation of thermal energy outwards enables a consistently high level of absorber performance
Sturdy structure for added safety in Upside-Down Technology
Maybe this will help:

Ever try shock cheaters? You could use them and keep your shocks that are already valved for your height lift.

You still need to measure and determine the correct length that you need.

You don't want to use the shocks as limiting straps or as a bump stops, they won't last very long if you do.

From the axle shock mount to the body shock mount.
A two person job since the rig can get a bit tippy at full flex, especially on 6.5" of lift.
