Default Best tips for beating a bumper dent out.

Okay so as you know i rear ended a buddy and his dad is being a D. So to shut him up i said i would fix the dent. Little do i know how do i do it? i was thinking a block of wood and pounding on it slowly. and gradually increasing. Its chrome right now but its gonna be sanded down and spray painted black. So how should i beat this dent out? no i am not gonna use a BFH

I pulled a dent out of a Chrome piece once by wedging a crowbar underneath the car to the back of the dent leaning down to the ground. Slowly backed up till the bar got stuck in a crack in the driveway. Slowly pushed the dent right out! I was proud. Oh and I should mention on the end of the crowbar I wedged a ball of rags so I wouldn't mess the bumper up.

What is the bumper from? You can try a ball peen hammer on a shot bag... Go slow and let the hammer do the work.

If it's a factory bumper from whatever its from, bumpers are around 35 bucks at most pull a part. faster and easier to go pull a decent one than trying to beat one out.

Umm.... well kind of. BBs might be a little too big. You can use steel shot or lead shot like around #9 (bird shot, clay shot) or sand also. The idea is to allow the force to exit the metal evenly without causing individual hammer marks.
