Default Best lift for new 35s?

I just mounted 35"x12.50r15 pitbull rocker radials on my xj and I'm trying to figure out how much lift I should run for my new tires. I can't turn my tires all the way without rubbing currently. I'm have stock axles and plan on staying with them. The current specs for the jeep are:

4.5" lift
Fox 2.0 performance shocks for 4.5-6.5 lift
Jks sway at discos
IRO double shear track bar
Dana 30: 4.88 gears, Spartan locker
Chrysler 8.25 29 spline: 4.88 gears
15x8 mt sidebiter wheels

I'm going to be purchasing a long arm upgrade this week along with:
Longer brake lines
Shackle relocation
5.5 or 6.5 coils?
Hack n tap SYE

Would y'all recommend 5.5" or 6.5" of lift for my set up? What would give me the best off-road performance?

If you want performance, you have to ditch some lift and get rid of the beauty guards on your fenders and make the fender wells bigger.

If you want good looks, go for a 6.5 inch lift and don't over-flex.

Where do you rub? It might not be something that lift can fix. You might need more backspacing/spacers to fix it.

Either way, I've been at a 6.5" LA on 35s for along time. I cut my fenders a bit but I don't rub anywhere at anytime. Bump stops are more important than anything else in this matter.

As for lowering it for performance... that is ridiculous unless your talking about racing. You gain better performance in/on everything being taller... more ground clearance, more articulation, better approach/depart angles, better in mud and snow etc. The ONLY downside is that you will roll over a few degrees sooner.

Realistically, your talking about an inch man. (5.5-6.5) If you do a ton of extremely off camber stuff, stay where your at. Otherwise go 6.5".

P.s. Clean looking jeep and welcome to the forum!

You say you can't turn all the way without rubbing. Where does it rub? I wouldn't touch the lift if you don't have to (other than the long arm upgrade).

PBR's look good! If it were my rig, I'd keep it at the 4.5, and trim the fenders til they don't rub.

I want the best off-road performance. It rubs a little on the bottom of the flare in the picture. I don't want to remove my flares. The actual lift in the rear might be 5". I plan on getting bumpstops after I get the lift stuff installed. I also need the shackle relocation because my shackle angle is at 90 degrees and needs to be fixed, that will add 1-1.5" of lift. I want the best off-road performance.

What kind of control arms do you have? It's possible to use adjustable ones to adjust your caster so you won't rub.

I have rough country non adjustable control arms. I plan on buying long arms this week though. I don't know if switching to long arms would push the axle forward a little?

Most long arms have a way to adjust them... my IRO kit at 6.5" didn't move it forward at all

Try something like this: http://www.ironrockoffroad.com/Merch..._Code=IR-SHDCA

You could also do long arms if they're adjustable, but there'd be no point as you're so close to rubbing that you'd never get the full advantage of long arms.

I was actually planning on getting the IRO long arm upgrade. They also have adjustable long arms for $100 more.

If you're going to do that, might as well add some more lift, or trim your fenders up more, otherwise you're gonna smash them when you attempt to flex.

I mean you can bumpstop, but what's the point of limiting yourself if you're going to go long arm?

I have loved my IRO long arms man... over 160,000 miles on them and counting. They have held up to my abuse even though ive cracked two D30 housings. Their trusses are really nice too!

Im sure someone will tell you to go elsewhere because their castor adjuster is going to explode and cause you to drive into a school bus of children but just read reviews of people that actually run their stuff

Lol I know, I've read every thread there is on IRO long arms. I'm not that concerned because out of all the people that have ran IRO long arms there is no account of the caster adjuster breaking. My main concern was cog, do you feel that unstable at 6.5".
