Default Bent Drive Shaft

I've got a 1998 Cherokee, 4 dr, 4.0, auto, 4x4. I started getting a vibration between 60 - 65 mph. I was told I had a bad rear tire, so replaced the tire, still had the vibration. Then told I need new shocks on the rear, replace (they were bad), but still had vibration. Went back to frame and alignment shop, they then said I had a bent drive shaft. Wanted $400 for a new one. I put the jeep up on stands, had my wife crank it up to 60-65 mph. I took a piece of crayon taped to a stick and marked the shaft at 3 locations. The color was on one side at each of the locations and the line was about 1 1/2" long. I'd read about put 2 screw type hose clamps 180 degrees of the mark to balance the shaft. Put them on, went for a drive, drives like a dream! Awesome, it took a long time to get there and a lot of parts, but they were needed anyway! Know I can cruse down the highway without my hands going to sleep!

I had never heard of that or would have thought of it, very nice and saved $400 to boot.

That's a great self balancing trick but you got that thing fast enough to start vibrating on stands!? Idk if I'd be brave enough to get close to being under it.
