Default Been awhile but I'm back

Hey all, so I know it's probably been close to a year or better since I posted but just wanted to say hi and give a little update. Life has been crazy and the Cherokee hasn't gotten much love but that should be changing real soon. So first off I was on the hunt for another xj beater so I could finally give the 2000 the over haul she needs and I ended up buying this.. 1998

So much for a beater
and here it is compared to my saggy 2000.. it looks so sad

I'll give the "good" list first:
6.5" short arm lift, jet chip, throttle body spacer, K&N shorty filter, CB, 33x12.50 Iroks, beadlockers, SYE, 100k miles, and not a single spot of rust (not even on rockers), 8.25 rear end, upgraded front axles

Now the "bad ish" list
Flex joints are shot, only one door lock works, small oil leak, door adjar switches where cut off, wire to power window control cut off, antenna shaft broke off, front fenders where just cut clean no rolling (with electrical tape to cover the sharp edge), drivers rear tail light has a chunk missing, needs an alignment (badly), sway bar was in the back seat and they didn't have the brackets, has the damn dash with only warning lights, has stock gears

So far I've fixed all the door latches and locks (had a add on keyless entry system I found under the dash and took the crap out of the doors), got a new (bone yard) antenna mount an antenna, spliced the wires for the mirror controls, replaced the radio mount, put in new door adjar switches.

Still on the to do list :
rebuild flex joints (have all the parts), re install sway bar with new bushings (found some brackets in the junk yard) and install the quick disconnects I got on Friday, change out gauges to the junk yard one that actually has gauges, need to find a tail light, adjust headlights to point straight, get it aligned, I'd like to get it regeared but was quoted 1800-1900 for the full job, I really hate how the front fenders have been cut they just flap around so easy I'm still not sure what I'm going to do there.

Think that sums up the 98

I did pick up a engine for the 2000 today since she's up to 292k and has a little knock untill it's warmed up .

Once the 98 is taken care of I'll start rebuilding this. It's out of a 97 with 170k. I plan on taking it down to the block hope all is well inside. Was told it needed a head gasket so lets hope the heads ok. I picked it up for $150 and for around here even not running is good. But of course I get home and someone listed a running engine trans and tcase for $250 .

But anyway that's was new in this neck of the woods hopefully I can get a build thread going once I start work on the 2000.

Going to assume you're saying I paid way to much?

I've been looking for months and it seems like anthing Jeep releated goes for stupid money around here. I've seen completely stock xjs with 160k+ go for 5k or more. Heck I stoped to look at one with 98k they wanted 4100 for and I could put my hand thru the floorboard. Just don't raz me to bad if I got screwed

Not way too much, but a bit much.
Seems like a decent jeep you got though.

Ok, that makes me feel a little better. Just curious what would you consider a fair price on it? I know things vary depending on location and unfortunatly things rot out fast up in salt happy Mi. But it fit the bill for me we're going to be selling the 08 grand as soon as I get done with a little tlc on the 98. I probably would have offered lower had I know of all the cut wires ahead of time. I really thought all it needed was the flex joints and the swaybar.

Are those actual bead-locks or street locks?

Tires look like they have less than half tread

They are actual bead locks, I'll have to measure the tread when I get home but its actually pretty deep.

Thats good then.
Its a good start for sure.
Rebuild the flex joints, fix the oil leak, wheel it, break it, and fix it again.

Rust free in Michigan. $4k might be a deal up there.

I'd say 4000 is a good deal..most of the Cherokees around here are all destroyed. You can't find anything clean like that

The tires are 33x12.50r15, I believe on 8" wheels, the back spacing is 4 ish but I haven't had the wheels off yet to measure.

You didn't over pay for that Jeep. Looks to be in pretty good shape. And as long as it runs well...

Most of the mods are already done to it, so you'll hardly have to put anything into it.
