Default bedlining the floor?

i was thinking about taking up the carpet in my 87 XJ dont know whats under there but i was thinking about replacing it with bedliner. im just looking for some tips on how to go about it. links to a write up on one thats been done would be awesome. i'm also wondering if its going to change the loudness inside the jeep. idk just seems like with a hard floor sound would bounce around more. kinda like tile floor versus carpet. any information will be much appreciated.

Not really mich to it... Remove interior, remove carpet, scuff the floorboard, clean surface with alchohol, and apply bedliner according to liner instructions.

It will be louder, and it will feel hotter

there will be more road noise but you should pull the carpet out and bedline it anyway. Under the carpet holds water and eventually rusts out.
ask me how i know

thanks. ive seen many pics of rusted out bottoms and my carpets have been wet plenty due to a leaky windshield and a few rain storms. i can only hope its not that bad. do you think if i got carpet mats to put over the bedliner would that help with the heat and noise thing? cause i could always take those out and wash/replace them

i put my first coat on last night, that smell will be there for awhile lol! Im using herculiner and it looks great so far. People say you will need more than a gallon but i have 3/4 of a gallon and i put the first layer on thick, im probably going to have enough to do the other jeep. its real easy, 30-40 minutes and i had the first layer down. took seats and seat belts out, everything is out!

I'd look into Monstaliner by magnet paints, its like herculiner but can get different colors and after reading reviews on jeep forum and after using their chasis saver I've decided this is the better product. Check out the vendor section on jf they have a deal for jf members free shipping and some other extras.

134 for the kit, I've done the inside of 2 wranglers and a Cherokee in the past with herculiner and wasn't 100% satisfied with the result so for my new cherokee I'm going to try the monstaliner (especially since he gives a good deal to forum members)

I used herculiner also. I like all the grit. Also used the rustoleum stuff but it has no grit. It does have a thicker coat tho. I got real good coverage now lol

herculiner is junk. it drys out, its not uv stable so it fades, and it uses alot of tire crumb rubber so its hard to clean, and less durable than monstaliner.
