Default Beadlock questions

Sorry if this is a stupid question but do bead locks go on both sides of your rims or just the outside?

Depends on which you would rather have. They make both single and double beadlock wheels, really just comes down to what you'll think you need i guess. Never ran beadlocks, so im not really qualified to answer which would be better for what.

i have just one sided beadlocks and have ran at 2psi and never lost an inner bead.

the only two sided beadlocks that i know of are H1, which are a two piece rim, bolted together in the center.

then there are staun's inner beadlocks which is like an airbag inside the tire locking both beads.

the outer bead is most prone to popping off. so most beadlocks are outer locked.

some beadlocks have a ring on the inside as well. but you need to run a larger wheel in order for the rings to clear your brakes/knuckles/steering.

there are the 2 piece beadlocks that exist like mentioned.

Then there are also stauns. which are basically tubes that go inside the tire and pinch the beads firmly against the lips of the wheels.

I have run the conventional outer beadlock style, and they work great. when aired down real low, every so often i pinch the tire in a way so a little air escaped out of the inside, but never blew and inner bead.

They allow the tire to run at really low air pressure without the tire popping off the wheel. However, the one's I tried for a few weeks on my XJ would not balance so they were terrible on the road.

Quality beadlocks balance fine.
