Default ax15 or poopteo ba 10/5

I have a march built 1989 cherokee 5 speed. It appears to be a ax15 to me but, I'm not an expert. I tryed doin a lot of research and from what I've found, it looks like a ax15 but, what are things I can look for on the bottom and sides to tell? It appears the trans is a 3 piece as in, big front (not the bell housing), small center and medium size end, if that helps any.

The BA 10/5 has a 2 piece case that's split down the center. The AX 15 has a solid case

Ok. So there would be noticable bolts on the bottom of the trans holding it together?

Easy way - eyeball the bottom of the case. If it's split longwise, it's the Peugeot BA-10/5 (may as well start looking for your replacement now.) If it's divided into three sections - front housing, rear housing, centre plate - not including the transfer case adapter housing or bellhousing - it's the AX-15.

Sounds like you've got the AX-15. If it's split longwise, it's fairly obvious. And yes, you'd see the case half screw heads on the bottom of the case going crosswise.
