Default Anyone done a V8 or LS1 swap?

Starting to look into this a little more. I could probably find a wrecked firebird or camaro, or one in ehh condition with good engine and trans for a good price. take the engine and tranny out to use in the XJ, and partout the rest and maybe profit some, or at least get some money back. I Have found mounts and adapters here

http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/xj_swap.htm

just wondering if anyone has done it, or had experience with it. I love the power the LS1 has to offer haven driven my dad's camaro. Soon the XJ will not be my DD and I will have time/money to modify it greatly. this is something I would be greatly interested in doing. I'd also be interested in whether the AW4 could handle the power (upgraded of course) I read on here it is nearly identical to the auto trans in the Supra. so I'm thinking it could maybe handle the power, or would it better to just swap in a T56.

I will be looking into doing this, and may become my summer project if I have enough money.

Thought I'd resurrect an old thread. Within the next few years at the rate my 01 is going (if I'd like to hang on to it) some sort of re-power will be in order. I've seen quite a few build threads online and skimmed over the Novak site to see what a LS1 Swap would cost. With all of the adapters, lines, transfer case, TH350, LS1 V8- Lowemileage engine (with what I'm assuming comes with Compressor, power steering pump, etc.) the price came out to $13K. I assume that's without shipping and obviously an install. Too rich for my blood.

If you can fab, swaps are limitless. The swap kit for mine was blood money back in the day, so I built my own.
