Default Anyone with an AX15...

I need some help...from anyone with a manual trans in an XJ thats 90 or newer (AX15).

I need to know how long the shifter lever is, and what angle the bend is at. And the measurements for how long the shifter is before it bends, how long tbe shifter is after it bends. Also...how far up out of the trans hump the lever comes out....

I know this is asking for alot of measurements...but I could really use them. Any and every dimension involved here is needed. Pics would be great, too!

Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me!!

Are you trying to determine if a YJ lever is longer than an XJ/MJ? If thats the case then yes it is longer on a YJ. Gives ya a trucker feel in the cab.. not too bad and my son actually prefers it.

If not... disregard. His MJ is an 88 so it wouldnt fit your perameters if i measured it..

I am attempting to make a shifter lever...long story.

Worst result I fail and buy a shifter lever and tower...which I would need now anyway...unless the lever idea works.

my boots gone ill get them for ya... however i dont see how you are gonna make the bottom half thats made like a ball... and has the grooves in it... do you have the special washer and spring and all that for it? the plastic part the little ball rotates on? any of that?

as for the YJ being longer i took my old XJ's handle off... cut it down... and retapped it to fit a new handle... wasnt hard and had a short shift... lol

Tempting...may just get them either way, as a back up in case something doesn't work out.

A wrench was tempting. Hell, I even started a thread for suggestions on what to replace the lever with. I just decided I wanted to try something REAL different.
