I've bought stuff from several forums but as far as I know this is the only one I've had issues with concerning transactions.
One was a battery cable set, that's been about 2 years ago. Still running on oem cables but I surely could have used that money elsewhere (cough, bored intake, cough).
Another was a dome light. Over a year and still dim in my cab.
Anyone else had similar experiences or am I just the unluckiest xj owner on the planet?

Got a Crown tune up kit off Ebay a few weeks ago, missing the oil filter.
Got some cheap shackles off Ebay a few weeks ago, had to take the grinder to them to make them fit.
Forum stuff (especially on here) - never had any issues.

If your referring to Kelly's WIP for the cables, I don't know much and will try not to speculate but from what I've heard he is going through some very hard times medically and otherwise. I had heard he was still working on things but no where near what people except and I believe his site is still up and does mention a hiatus of sorts.
Personally though I've never had a problem purchasing from anyone here, I got so tow hook brackets made by one person with some tow hooks, some headlight harness upgrades, and some intake equipment, just to name some things off the top of my head.

X2- It kinda sounds like you purchased new battery cables and never installed them- just kept the OEM's in place. The dome light is a bulb issue, I'd think.
Anyway, everyone I've purchased from on this forum has been legit- KWIP does make quality cables, XJ Files used to make a great subwoofer enclosure, and Big David's disc brake upgrade shipped fast and installed with ease. If you contact any of them you've had troubles with I'd be willing to bet they'd do what they can to make you a happy customer.

I see the ambiguity in my post.
I meant transactions just on this site. Everybody has an eBay story.
Yes, bought cables here and I know kelly's issues. I'm not complaining, I got that out a while back. I've moved on but I remembered another transaction where I bought a dome light and had several pm's back and forth but never got it. Again I've moved on but will admit that 2 bad transactions are 2 more than I have had dealing on other forums (not auto forums, shooting forums).

I guess I get lucky most of the time
Needed new steering - got a full kit on eBay for much cheaper than retail. Everything worked flawlessly, no defects or anything.
Needed to do new brakes - managed to get a set of open-box Centrics for $10 cheaper each for the front - arrived in perfect shape.
Same with shocks - got a set of Bilstein 5100's for $75 shipped on eBay (open box again), and another set locally for the rear for $80 brand new never opened. Saved half of the cost!
On the other hand...
Took me 3 power steering pumps to get one that was perfect
Every time I go to the Junkyard, there is only 1 XJ with the part I need and it is usually either beat up or all rusty, so I end up having to wait a few weeks till they get another XJ in and pounce on it
Bought an amp on eBay that looked like it was in perfect shape. Went to test it out like a year later and it wouldn't power on
I guess you win some and you loose some.

Bought two items off of forum members and can say I had a great experience both times.
The most notable being XJWONDERS and his battery cable upgrades. Great customer service with the guy and worked with me to get thicker cables to match my upgraded alternator.

I just want to be clear. After thinking more about this thread I wish I had not started it but such is life, we make mistakes.
I don't want to imply that this site has problems with transactions. My point was just to talk about the Vegas odds of my having had two bad transactions. Anything can happen to anyone at any time. There are a dozen reasons why a transaction goes bad, some good some unacceptable. When things do go bad I never assume the other party has done anything nefarious. I always try to give them the benefit of the doubt.
An example of a potential bad transaction because of me just happened. I pmed my address to the seller right after I thought I had paypalled him the money last night. I woke up this morning thinking about how odd it was that I never got an emailed receipt from paypal. I went to look and sure enough I never even pressed send.
