ya, id charge about the same to do a swap for somebody. but since me and my dad are capable of doing it, that saves all that money! i wouldnt have done it if we couldnt do it ourselves. i have too many buddies with diesels that give too much money to their "mechanics". and youre right, good mechanics arent cheap.

so if you compare doing a cummins swap to a tdi swap, i think the cummins is cheaper and easier. just my opinion. other people that know VW tdi better could probably do it cheaper and easier.

A cummins swap can be easier if its not a common rail,But cheaper depends where you live.A 4bt that runs here is 3 grand same price as a 12 valve cummins.Or i can spend 2 grand or less for a wrecked vw diesel. As far as a easier swap depends whos doing the swap.

Right. If I wouldn't have gotten such a good deal on these 2 Cummins then this never woulda happened. No swap would have.

That's my point too. If you've got it or can get it for cheap that's good. Also depends on what you want and what you can do.

By the way, why TWO engines? Stuck as that combo and you sold one off? Keepin one for parts? LH & RH rotation? (no idea if the 3.3 can even do that)

He was selling them both so I bought both. One was turbo'd the other wasn't. The non turbo is on a stand up thru the oil pan. And I had to rob the fuel pump drive gear out of it for the turbo'd engine I'm using.

Ahhh. This sounds familiar. The other unit is a display model, right?

I'm 90% sure I've read your build thread on here but until I unpack my PC I've been using this garbage smartphone almost exclusively.

They were both display engines. Never had fluid in them and had never been started. the non turbo on the stand has sand blast media in it from I'm guessing, having the yellow komatsu blasted off. (they are komatsu engines branded by Cummins)

I uncovered her yesterday for the first time in a couple months. We moved her into the garage to paint the door jams and where the hood meets the cowl.

Little sneak peak of the color (this was the hood) all the cutting in is done and now just gotta reassemble it and take it to paint.
