while reading about on the forum today, saw a couple post about using the shell rotella diesel oil in the 4.0. I dont care about price of oil, i just want the best stuff i can get. I usually run 10-30 castrol conventional and soemtimes throw a quart of marvels mystery oil in it with a mopar filter. Anyway, Ive been reading all day about the rotella and i think i want to switch over to it. But i dont know which type to use. I took a ride over to autozone and they have the 15-40, 5-40, and 10-30. I live in jersey and go to school in syracuse so Im not sure if i should do 15 in the summer, 5 in the winter, or if i could just run 10 all year round. Ive read Salads whole bit on the rotella review and countless other posts about it being a great oil for the 4.0. I just dont know which one to use.

Most run an "oversized" filter as well, often the Wix 51515/Napa 1515/Motorcraft FL-1A/Purolator L/PL30001, etc. You can also run the even bigger (though less common) Wix51459/Napa 1459/Baldwin B7311MPG, these have a ton of filter area and are great in the winter when the oil is thick or for longer oil change intervals.

I'm in Jersey and run the 5w-40 T6 year round. I use the NAPA gold 1515 filter, just need to add an extra half quart as it's a larger filter.

Mopar filter is just fine, of course. I ran it all the time up until I refreshed my rod bearings and starting using NAPA Gold. Just avoid Fram.
For the most part, oil is oil. So long as it is a name brand, most of the stuff isn't junk. I just run Shell Rotella because I'm a bit of a brand loyalist.
Just run 10w30 oil like the manual recommends. When it's cold, run the 5w30 oil.

Yes, but it is nothing "special", it is basically equivalent to something like a Purolator Classic. Personally I'd run a Ford MotorCraft FL-1A over the Mopar, it is as good or better construction (Basically a Purolator PureOne in a "Classic" can), offers greater capacity and is cheap (usually around $3.50-$4).
Like thatXJguy said avoid Fram like the plague, those are junk (especially the "orange can") and have been known to cause pressure issues. STP and other Champion "E-core" (plastic core with felt end-caps) filters (including any AC-Delco filter with an "E" suffix) aren't much better and are also best avoided.

yeah i used a fram once and replaced it after only 5 miles with a k&n, but autozone carries mopar now so thats what i always grab. Im gonna go with the T6 5w-40, but i was wondering since it is a synthetic will it leak more? I got the rear main leaking just a couple drips every now and then but i dont wanna accelerate it.
