the 1st one looks like some WJ bumpers ive seen, ill try to find a link or a pic of what im talking about, maybe it was a Ram bumper, im not sure lemme find it.

It looks like that to me, and to me i like that look and the integration of the fog/driving lights.

Although on a XJ it might be a bit bulky

you're right.... but that bumper probably stands much taller than mine. i'm gonna guess that thing is every bit of 20" tall. but i see your point.

If i had my old computer id ask you for the drawing and see what i could do, but i dont its back in costa rica

Off of the first design with foglight holes maybe take some of the material off the top of the bumper (where the grill would be)

heres what i was talking about:

Or would that take it too far back and not be able to mount a winch

(sorry for quality, quick hack job in photoshop)

edit: combine the hack job i did with thinning the height out and i think it would be pretty good (maybe, id have to see it)

I definitely do like the looks of this one over the first. Still kinda reminds me of the ARB bumpers for our xj's. But I like the looks of it and envious that you have access to that kind of equipment. I only had paper and a ruler at the shop that i worked at for a little while.
