Default Airtex fuel pumps?

So I'm getting a new fuel pump and I've been reading alot of bad reviews about the airtex brand from different car sites. Anyone got anything to say about these? Or what brand I should really look for. Seems like the airtex are the only pumps that are in stock at all the parts stores close to me.

I've went through 2 in the last 6 months. At least they give you a 1 year warranty.

Whole assembly. I think its much easier to just take one out and put the new one in. Plus I had read a few articles about having to modify the bracket or making sure some kind of sleeve was in the parts box. Are you sure its the fuel pump? I almost replaced it again 3 weeks ago, but someone told me to check the ballast. That was the problem this time.

Just replaced mine with one. The actual pump was a lot bigger than the stock one and is a little louder. Other than that no problems yet

Yeah check the ballast and seems fine, thats one of the first things I thought of, but it seems like its the unit because it started hesitating and stalling like its starving its self for fuel which is what it did last time my pump went out a few years ago. Plus my fuel gauge stopped working at the same time and I checked the gauge itself and its good so I'm assuming pump and sending unit

You hit the nail on the head. Mine sputtered on the way home and never ran again.

I've had an airtex for over a few months but I think I lucked out.

Until I went offroading today it would always sit on the half tank mark, and then drain faster than you can say Anbesol when it got to about 15 miles left.

I was stranded once. It read half way when I parked. Then when I left it drained from half to empty and stalled out in the MIDDLE of a 4 way intersection not even an 8th of a mile down the road.

Don't f*ck around when it comes to the fuel pump. Spend the money and get something that isn't going to possibly kill you. Or just wait until you do have the money if you don't right now. It's not worth the hassle or possible bodyil/XJ'ily damage you'll receive. Just because it has a warranty on the pump doesn't mean its good, and they damn sure don't pay for doctor and auto salvaging bills from failure of their POS-pumps.

They're also made in Mexico if you look at the box. We need to support the American economy, not 3rd world countries that import cheap labor into California.
