It won't go off because the light is on, but it may not go off if you ever get into an accident too. Chances are pretty good the clockspring is bad and causing the light to come on.

Mine only comes on when all my gauges drop. But thats only because theres a short or somethin in my dash. I can push on the plastic above the gauges and the airbag light will go off and my gauges will start working again

Not always a good way to diag a clockspring.......on a 96 mini van yes most of the time If the air bag light is on 99% chance the airbag will not fire in a crash, when you wat it to.
There was also a recall to relocate the airbag contol module from under the drivers seat to under the center console due to water intrusion issues. Just some food for thought, check and make sure your up to date on your recalls....this all depends on the year also. Have your local dealer run your VIN and it will tell you if you have any open recalls on your jeep. You get free parts and they get some work, it's a win....win!!
Your window issue is probably the harness in the drivers/passenger door harness.

The airbag lamp could be anything - my wife's car has it go off whenever anything rolls under the driver's seat into the control box, and loosens the plug.
I really need to make a fence for that and get that damned light turned off!
The problem with idiot lights is that they're idiots - they'll tell you that something is wrong, but won't tell you what. Could be anything - even something as prosaic as a loose connection somewhere...
