I use a K&N in the stock air box. I believe you get what you pay for. a $17 filter is that cheap for a reason.

ya cuz your not payin for a name. k&n been around forever. im sure it not hard for someone to make a filter just as good for what it should cost. i dont believe in buying things just because of the name.

With brands like K&N you're paying extra for the name brand. Spectre makes a good product these days, I'm running a Spectre drop-in filter and my air box is clean.

K&N in kinda like Alpine. Sure, it's a good product but, you can get just as high of quality or better for far less.
I went to an Alpine store back in the 80's and their demo vehicle was a suburban with a $5,000 Alpine stereo system that consisted of a head unit, 24 speakers and 8 amps. Yeah, it sounded good but, my $150 Pioneer system which consisted of a head unit and 4 speakers with no amp was not only louder, it was more clean and crisp as well.
