So i recently took out my old K&N cone filter setup and went with the homebrew cowl snorkel. Now i need a new air filter for the stock box, what kind are you guys using/recommend?

Nothing. I just dont keep up on air filter tech and wanted to make sure i got a good filter. The only thing i didnt like about the k&n was the cleanin and oiling. also i felt like it got really dirty rather quickly. im surrounded by farm land so i see ALOT of dust.

K&N makes an OEM filter for the stock box.

for the best filtration use the stock airbox with the stock type filter. the k&n drop in is not worth it IMO, in my experience on dusty SoCal wheeling the K&Ns get dirtier much quicker and dont filter as well.

X2.

I use a spectre in the NE and it is perfect and gives a slight extra kick. But I always check it after wheeling it PA cause I know they aren't as good as stock cotton type

I haven't really had it long enough to know if it's just as good as K&N or a POS but, I found Spectre brand filters at Advance. Same style, same claims but MUCH cheaper. K&N would have been just under $60.00 and the Spectre was $17.99.

I have the Spectre filter in mine. It's held up well and on its 4th washing. The reusable filters are more for convenience rather than HP gains.
