AEM cold air intake made by K&N?

Ok so i may be an idiot and live a sheltered life, but i just got my first cold air intake today and it was an AEM Brute Force Dry Flow, which i have heard of before but when i got it i seen K&N on the filter. Am i sheltered or is this not very known?

K&n Owns AEM.
Where did you buy it? The brute force should be a gray filter. If you got a red one, you got ripped off.
