Default Advantage to new wheels/rims?

Hey all - looking for advice on a new set of shoes for the XJ. I have a line on a full set of BFGs and a spare for $500 (could negotiate down prolly) but they're for a 15" rim and I have the Mopar 16" alloy rims from the Limited editions. I'm trying to figure out if it's worth me jumping on these and buying aftermarket steel wheels to replace my alloys. What are the advantages? Am I better off holding out and waiting for a set that fit my 16s?

Thanks!

I prefer steel wheels because they are less prone to cracking.

the smaller the rim the more rubber on the tire. you want more meat when off roading. buying a new set also allows you to pick your back spacing and run a wider tire without rubbing against your control arms.

bigger rims look pretty when you're parked outside the mall

/\ this.....i would get a new set of rims for the 15's....tires are less expensive in 15 s then in 16s or bigger...u could sell your 16s for a good price to offset the new wheels..i paid 72.00 apiece for my wheels. Eagle alloy 058 15x8 3.75 back space

If you do light wheeling, then look into alloys. It'll be a big difference if you're on the road alot more than the dirt. Alloys are generally up to 10lbs lighter. Lighter rim = better mpg and other stuff. Yeah they cost more, but you'll be thanking yourself later.

XJ's aren't hybrids, so every mpg counts!
