Going to check out an XJ this saturday. I used to own a 92 with a 3inch lift on 31s. This one is a 94, 5speed, 4.0, 8inch lift, 35s, 4.11 gears. The owner is saying that it will only do about 55mph on the highway. Does that sound about right? I know you lose speed with the lift and tires, but that much?

I kinda need it to be able to go on the highway, so if I do get it, I guess I would have to get smaller tires? I don't know. Never had a vehicle with this much lift/tires.

Im just curious if this kind of top speed is common with the lift/tire/ratio combo. Or could the engine be down on power?

You just need to regear.. and that would help you emensley.. also going down in tire size will be of help.. What axles are on that jeep.. not manny people are running that much lift and that big of a tire.. Find out what axles are under there so as we can tell you how low you need to reagear to in order to bring back the power to the jeep

 

D30 front/8.25 rear. It's a 94 so I'm guessing it has the 27spline chrysler axle. 4.11 ratio. Not sure if they were beefed up our not yet.

I'd like to go with 33s and redo the lift with a RE kit.
