So, i bought a pair of cherokee seats from the junkyard, and have started to remove the covers to wash them and put them back on. I wouldnt recommend it unless the upholstry shop near you doesnt charge much to replace them. They have metal rods going through them that have hog rings that you have to cut. The hog rings are looped around another metal rod in the seat foam and this keeps the crease in the seats in perfect shape.

Even though i've seen that article, you seem to miss the part of that being written for the 96- seats. Unlike the title of my thread which is "97+ Cherokee seats, Completely overbuilt" and the fact that im not posting about how i dont know how they come apart, but i'm posting about how their built.

Yea, I tried the exact same thing. The rear seat was no big deal, cover came of and into the washing macine. The fronts I tried to disassemble, found out it was impossible, and ended up just cleaning them with the upholstery cleaner.

If you have a day or 2, just take them out, get a bucket of soapy water and a nylon brush, clean away, spray off with hose, and let dry.
Thats what I did, they turned out pretty clean.

The 97+ seats have the same metal rod design as the 95-96 seats..
cut the rings, machine wash. call a local shop and have them put the rings back on (they have a special gun that does it)
here is when I was redoing mine..

Hog ring pliers and a box of hog rings, no big deal. Don't let the naked seat foam sit out in UV light (AKA the Sun), the foam will turn to dust in no time.
