Talking 93 Xj Country! Buy or Pass

im about to buy another xj now. looking at a ??? 93 xj country. takes all 92 parts i guess??? but titles says 93. its got 210k on it. sitting on 90% tread 31x10.5 goodyear wrangler AT's in a Real aggressive cut. I6 4.0 High Output. <<<Anyone know why its branded H.O. or what the diff is between my 97 sport? Auto trans. brand new replaced two weeks ago by my dude radiator and fuel pump. I guess the brain is out, got water into it somehow, but motor tranny axles ect i checked and where clear. He says hes willing to buy the brains or main computer and possibly install if i pay $1350. That or he'll knock a couple hundred off. but the comp. or brain is 518.76 i guess. What do you guys think? anyone know more about RENIX? is this one? and how do i tell? THanks for the inputsss might be up poo creek without a paddle if it werent for all you good people!!!

also i figure the tires in the condition they are should be worth an easy 500 maybe 600 being about new and still having the hairs on them. and the jeep runs like A SCOLDED DOG so i figure 500 for tires 800 for xj= Big Win. Even though its not running now it was two weeks ago before the fuel pump fell off inside the tank and it spent two weeks in a field.

87-90 were the Renix years, 91 and up use Chrysler electronics. 91 and newer 4.0 engines were all H.O. engines, they're rated 23 horespower more than the Renix 4.0. The cylinder heads and intake, along with a few other changes were the main difference between the Renix and H.O. engines. There is also no EGR valve on the H.O. engines, and onboard diagonstics were better and easier on the non-Renix engines. Buy it if it's rust free and runs. I'm not a fan of using floor vents for a home HVAC system for hood vents.

Ah. some clarification. thanks a mil. always wonder about the bold H.O. stamps on the early to mid 90's years and it seemed to stop before it got around my 97. its not baged like this. thanks for teaching. And theres a little rust. just basic XJ symptoms though. and pretty easily treatable if there dealt with now.

The overhead console was an option. So not all XJ's have them. The 93 xj country has a 1.5" factory lift. And came with 3 skid plates. '91 was the first year with HO. After several years they stopped putting the 4.0 HO. Badging on. Because they all where. The overhead consoles compass/temperature module changed in '93 (or right after) to a compass/temperature/MPG module. (They added the MPG) Although the wiring harness is there in the '97, It might have different connectors then the 93.

That explains why mine sat a little higher than my aunts 95 base model. I didn't know they had the lift from the factory or the skid plates but I never looked for those guess I'm gonna have to take a look.
