It would take a good look over on both jeeps. I really like my gf 01, the interior is nice, it has cup holders and I think looks better overall. But why only 1600 for 01 XJ with 128K? That sounds fishy cause most would want 4-6k for something like that, it does depend on where you live.

If you really want a 4x4 toy, Id say spring for 92 since it already has a 3" with 31's. That will get you most places until you find a good source of money to rework it. As a student myself, I would lean towards the 92. I just had my friend back into my jeep this weekend at the bar, next day pivoted it around a tree and I dont really care; wasnt pretty to begin with.

You will find more available boneyard parts for the 92, not too many 01s in the salvage yards yet.

92 already lifted and full leafs motors are easy to come by if it going to blow which you can get easily 300,000 out the I6

Keep in mind the 01 has an 0331 head which is prone to cracking. Make sure the oil isnt sludgy but be prepared for that. Thats one thing i ignored to research before i bought mine

both of them are rust free. Im a southern california guy. ya im thinking that im gonna go pick up the 92 just for the reasoning that if i need a part its soo much easier to go to a jy and find an older model rather than trying to find an 01. and the fact that its already somewhat capable offroad. thanks guys.

Heads up, Jeeps are built, not bought. The initial purchase is nothing more than a down payment on all the accessories.
