Default 91 jeepcherokee very hard to shift

So i need some opinions, It is very hard to change gears into 1st, 2nd and reverse.
it completely stopped working a while ago. Then i got the slave cylinder changed, the master cylinder the clutch looked fine so we didn't replace it.
We have bled it so many times even did a gravity bleed.
When my jeep is off the clutch feels perfectly fine. But then when i turn it on it has almost 2 inches of play. and when i put it in reverse it makes an awful grinding sound.
any thoughts would be nice! Completely annoyed of driving anymore.

Thanks!!

What year is your Jeep and how many miles? Your tranny mounts might be shot or just nonexistent.

what would the tranny mounts have to do with it not wanting to shift?

There is a very good video here on how a manual transmission works, and in it he does a good job of explaining what can make it hard to shift and what can cause grinding:

IdentiFix says about 50% of cases are fixed with a quality clutch kit. I had similar issues and bought a Luk clutch set that included the slave, friction plate, and pressure plate. Bled the system and it works great. If that doesn't fix it I'd also replace the master cylinder with a quality one, preferably with an aluminum cylinder.

If that doesn't fix it, start looking into synchros.

if you have play in the pedal it's most likely a hydraulic issue.

Start with the master cylinder. Mine looked fine ( no leaks etc) but apparently it wasn't as that fixed it right up. Start with the cheap easy stuff.

So, after all the worrying I've been doing. And allllllll the break bleeding we have done. My boyfriend bled it once more yesterday, and it was a flippen air bubble. Who knew it could be such a pain in the butt to get an air bubble out??
