Default 89 limited overheating...

Just started out of the blue it gets up to about 235-245 at stoplights and cools down a little to 220-225 when we get moving think the radiator might be clogged not sure. Also I don't think the electric fan is working seems a little stiff

With the engine warm but not running spin the mechanical fan, if it spins pretty freely the fan clutch is shot and needs replaced. First place to start if it heats up while setting and cools down while driving.

When was the last time you've done any maintenance on the cooling system, if ever? Good idea to bite the bullet and spend the ~$200 and just do a complete overhaul of the cooling system, especially with summer right around the corner.

My 90 has started to do the same thing, is it better to replace the entire fan, etc? Or just the fan clutch?

I've only owned it a month or so and money is tight but I do plan on a radiator water pump and Tstat change if the fan clutch doesn't fix the problem

Checked all my wires, switched out the fan relay and it kicked right on. Might wanna check it if you haven't before replacing the clutch.
