Default 88 cherokee window

My jeep has power windows and currently my driver side window won't roll up if it has gone all the way down. But if it ever does goes back up I can roll it up and down all day but it's only once it goes all the way down tht I experience promblems

My 88 drivers side window always falls off the track or whatever it is that the window goes up and down on if I go all the way down. I have to pull off the bottom of the door panel to push it back up. I had jammed a screw in the track to stop the window from going down all the way but it fell out after a while. I just try to remember to not put it down all the way. Maybe just go doorless!

And on my 88 sometimes when it goes all the way down it makes a gear grinding sound and wont come up, so I have to pull up on the window while pushing the electric switch up at the same time at first, then it works.

There is two places to check, that are common problems. Take the door plane off. pull the switch out of the door (leave dangling by the wires). Take a volt meter, and check for power, go into the switch, and out when activated. The other problem area is in the rubber sleeve between the body and door. (especially the drivers door) While the door panel is off, replace the plastic clips on the locking connecting linkage, and door handles. Because they become old brittle and break, as do the wires in rubber sleeve. If you have the crappy factory speakers in the front doors, replace them while the door is apart. Thats What I did. JMO!
