Default 77 Dodge "posi" 8.25 rear end

My questions are could it be a real posi rearend and would it be a bolt on mod? The rear end is a decent price and I wouldnt mind doing a full width axle. Its 64.5" between the axle flange outer surfaces and 43.25" between the centerline of the spring perches and I cant remember what the measurements of a dana 35 are. Anyone know off the top of their heads?

the 77 axle your talking about is the 9.25 and they are junk and have no aftermarket support...also has 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern. i would steer clear....not a bolt in affair.

you would be better off running a ford 9 inch. mucho aftermarket support, and i have seen them in 1200 hp drag cars. they can be had for about $100-200 bucks around here and are a dime a dozen in the junk yards....also not a bolt in, but much more worth it.

Ya that makes sense, I was mostly just curios about the "posi" which I understand stopped being made in the EARLY 70's. Thanks, I'll keep hunting for a LSD 8.8!

Chrysler never used Posi, that is a GM term. Chrysler used Suregrip. All the same idea, just different trademark names.
