Can i fit 6x9s in my 91xj without modifying in my doors and hatch ? just wounding before i ripe my panels off

If you havent bought the speakers already (and depending on where you were planning on putting them), I have read that 6x9's are not as good as 6.5" speakers -- especially 6.5" components -- due to their shape.

Awsome thank you ...yea I wanna overhaul myself system ...the speakers that are in it are still stock and the foam around the cone is deteriorating and sounds like **** with bass

I got 6x9's I fit in the doors but you have to cut away some metal it's a lot better then whatever size was in there

I just mounted some stock doors speakers out of a VW passat on my lift gate. Works like a champ. I use to be a VW tech and I nabbed them from an abandoned car a customer left.

Haha yeah they do! I might go to 6x5's though because having the 6x9's in I can't role my window down all the way and it irritates the crap out of me!

Yeah only about an inch of the window sticks out I can still put my arm out I'm just OCD about my Jeep honestly

Thanks, what I did was get two more speaker covers like the ones thats there already and just mounted them under the originals,then the speakers are behind them protected.

Looks like it came from the factory like that.... so 6x9 in the hatch good idea but not doors.... what about the speakers in the dash how big can you go with those?

So I'm going to go with some 6.5s . I'm going to do it this weekend. does anybody know what exact clips I need for putting the door panels back on?
