Default 53k Original!??

Seeking advice. Going to look at a 2000 Cherokee limited with supposedly 53k original miles. The guy is asking $10,000. Is that in the ballpark? According to kbb, he's a bit height but supply and demand might be all that matters.

WAY high. I don't care how few miles it has--it's still just a 00 XJ. There are 100k+ XJ's out there that couldn't possibly be in better shape, and there are low-mile XJ's that have leaking seals, rust, interior damage, etc.

I wouldn't pay more than $6k for the best possible stock XJ in existence unless it was something kind of special like a mint Waggy, Briar, or Stealth (European thing, none in the US). Even then, I wouldn't pay near $10k.

Not to mention the 0331 head issues.....

Sounds counter-intuitive, but at a certain age, there is such a thing as too FEW miles. 16+ years & under 60K miles? That tells me it has spent a lot of it's life sitting.

And that is the WORST thing you can do to a car, short of parking it in a salt bath.

Test drive will feel great, two weeks later it starts springing leaks from every gasket, engine loses power from a gunked up fuel system, suspension bushings start crumbling...

Late production XJs, look for something with about 100K miles. And never EVER pay $10K for one. Not ever.

The price is sky high and i would dodge the 00-01 years for the head problem and low pinion dana 30.I would look for a 91-99 as virgin as i can find no rust and taken care of.With the 4.0 if its been taking care of they can run 300k and we have a lot of members well in the 200k range and still going.

Thanks guys. I kinda figured. I currently have a '99 , I just always keep looking. I was unaware of the head issues until I did some research. I think I'll steer clear of that one. I appreciate all the input.
