It would depend on how the OP plans on using his Cherokee. If he plans on running stock gearing go with the auto, the 3.07 gears in the manuals suck even with stock tires.
I am running the AX15 and with 4.88s and the type of wheeling I do it works fine, but if I were into serious rockcrawling I would go with the AW4 with a manual valve body.
That way I would have the extra strength and extra torque gains over the manual with a clutch.
