Default 4 Cylinder Blow By

I'm sure there re similar threads but this is quicker.
I have an '86 Cherokee 4 cylinder. 240K miles. I'm getting consierable blow by. Last year I increased the valve cover vent tubing size knowing that was only a temporary putting off.
I replaced a valve and lapped all the valves several years ago and there is NO ridge in the cylinders. I'm thinking I can get away with just replacing the rings.
Here's my forum question: Has anyone out there done this without removing the engine. I really don't want to do that. Can the oil pan be removed with out to much trouble?
Thanks all who read and comment.

You'd have better luck in the OEM tech section, I've never done this before but IIRC it amounts to:

- Jack the Jeep up by frame rails so the axle hangs looww. You may need to disconnect things to get it low enough
- Remove oil pan
- Undo connecting rod bearing caps
- Remove head
- Pull pistons out of top
- Replace rings
- Reassemble
- ???
- Profit!

This is assuming you don't need to get anything done like the cylinder walls bored or honed. It would also be prudent to send the head off to be worked over at a machine shop.

Default Runs like a new engine

That's exactly what I did except I didn't have to disconnect anything to make it hang lower. I did have to buy a female torx to remove the starter. What were those engineers thinking anyway. The whole job was very easy.
Out of 4 pistons, 2 compression rings each, there were a total of 6 .... yes 6 broken rings. No wonder I was getting blow by and no power.
Runs like a top now. I just got back from a trip to Northern California and except for Grapevine, remember it is only a 4 cylinder, it powered up those hills just like ever one else.
256,000 and still going strong.
Next project ... front axle U joints. It's been clanking for about 2 years.
