just wondering if the short arms limit the flex or if the ride suffers on account of it

You can get decent flex out of a short arm. And the ride can be improved by control arm drops if you wanted. But your overall ride will be pretty influenced by shocks and spring rate.

4.5 won't be to harsh on short arms (id suggest longer adjustable ones though)

I run it! No problems, although I bet a long arm would drive a little smoother

short arms do not limit the flex... I got my tire to 37" off the ground before any others lifted on my short arms. (the rear shocks are to short limiting the rear tire staying planted....

what limits flex is the shocks you have on it. short arms just ride rougher than long arms. Because I have better flex than 2 of my buddies with long arms and one of my buddies with drop brackets.

in the front i run a 12" travel shock (should be running a 13" or a 14") in the rear i will be running a 10" travel shock

Nice, but it looks like you need new shoes on there.

What size lift are you running?

What adj. control arms are you running?

Any pics of it on flat ground (haha)?

X2. i did drive a 4.5 long arm, and it rides a bit smoother than my short arm. but not enough difference to make it a cadillac deville vs. ford escort.
