4.10 gear ratio ques.

Im looking into buying a set of axles that the guy claims (but not positive) that their 4:10 ratio.
He says their off his 95 5 speed xj with towing package did that come stock with 4:10s?

Probly not if it was a 6 cylinder. 4.10s usually only came on the four bangers unless he had it regeared or found another set of axles. Go check them out though and pull the cover. On the side of the ring gear there will be some numbers. If it says "41 10" then they are 4.10s. If it says some other numbers just divide the bigger number by the smaller and it will give you the ratio.

Most 5 speeds come with 307 gears unless swapped out.There is a tag on diff cover that will tell you what gears.jeeps with 4 bangers and 86 xj with the 2.8 litres came with 410s....Automatic 4.0 came with 355 gears...

Just mark a rear tire and the drive shaft yolk, have someone roll the rig forward one full revolution of the rear wheel while counting the drive shaft revolutions. A little over 3 = 3.07, three and a half = 3.55, a little over 4 = 4.10, that way you know the gearing and aren't just guessing.
