This has been asked numerous times before. All jeep are different, the only way you will find out is to do the lift. I'm at 4.5 with a drop so you should be fine but its always possible that you could need one

It seems like the guys who have '95's and older do OK with the t-case drop and the guys that have the newer XJ's need the SYE. I think I read somewhere that the output shaft on the older XJ's make the SYE a little less of a necessity. My searches on that haven't found any posts that specifically verify that yet, though.

I'd like to know for sure, though, as I'm about to lift my '95. I'm struggling right now to decide on RC's 3" lift, RE's 3.5" lift, or RC's 4.5". I'm leaning toward RC's 3" lift and 31 X 10.50's as this is my daily driver. I'm not too sure yet. Those 4.5 lifted Jeeps sure do look coooooool!!!!

I don't mind doing the SYE, but I don't want to if it isn't necessary.

ALSO, my '95 has the ( ultra-awesome ) 5 speed manual, and I'm told that if you have a 5-spd, it makes a difference in what lift kit will fit. I'm not too sure if that has anything to do with the SYE or not.

I have a little bit of vibes on my 01 so I'm gonna do the tcase drop (I'd do the SYE if I didn't need new tires), and if that doesn't completely cure them, I'll add some small shims

I have heard that too, and isn't your rear ds longer than an auto? Cuz that would make it harder to get vibs. And definitely do 4.5 with 32's or 33's
