I'm not the only one telling you the d35 sucks. But go ahead, keep aiming at me.

Your step dad can keep his sub par axles.

i'll stick to the regeared d44 I have in my Cherokee. And I'll continue building the 8.25 for my wifes Wrangler, which will also get regeared.

You know...the intelligent way to do this....not making things harder than they need to be...not asking things of parts that said parts were not meant to do....

Doesn't look like mall crawling to me. This yj has been to every orv park in ohio, indiana and kentucky, all with a d35 andno broken axles. I will say if d35 was locked it would have broken by now. But running open with 35in creepy crawlers it has been perfectly fine

I think I can help, here. The OP was how much of a difference will there be versus his 33s. 35s on 3.55 are not a lot different from 33s on 3.55. When I moved up, I did not really note any performance difference, other than the speedometer reading a little slower

If you have an auto, you will be a LOT happier if you gear down. If you have a manual, you will be happier if you gear down (note a little less happier than the auto folks, but still happier!). It is more tolerable, but most people prefer the lower gears.

Wow, you are the first person to actually answer the question I asked. Thank you

Why would someone run 35" creepy crawlers unlocked? Thats like building a 500 horsepower big block, but having the throttle stop at 2000 rpms.

I had 35's with 5.38s on a dana 60 and broke a 35 spline alloy shaft (and a ton of front 44 shafts, detroit locker, gearset, housing, etc.) if you think it will work, go for it, not many people are that lucky. and Everyone has a different definition of "hard wheeling". I just prefer having my rig overbuilt as opposed to worrying about it breaking every time I go out. **** happens offroad, nothing can be predicted, most people just see the dana 35 as a ticking time bomb.

Anyway, i ran 33's and 35's on 3.55s. the 33 were bearable, the 35's SUCKED. all the mass and the extra mass is further away from the hub making it that much harder for the motor to turn.

The 35's on the d35 isn't my rig, i wouldn't run 35in creepy crawlers on open axles. And I would loveto over build, but I don't have the money or resources. 35in mt/r's on chromo d30 and an 8.25, with an aussie front and maybe spartan rear, with 4.88's is the most built my xj is getting

manual 35s on 3.55s is not to bad but does leave some to be desired.
the reason i hate dana 35s is i watched a tj eject its axle and wheel and get plowed by a big rig at 55mph they had to shut down the hole interstate to life flight the only one left in the rig that had a chance of living.
I tell all my friends that a dana 35 is like running around with the pin pulled on a granade. friend didnt listen to my he locked his tj on 33s with a spartan locker 2nd trip to the sand he was KIA.
