I ran 3.55 on 31s in my old 99 AW4 and now 3.07 on 31s in my 98 AX-15. Both are horrible on any sort of highway driving. Merging into traffic, inclines greater than 5*, etc. All are pretty bad. I can only imagine how much worse it would be with 33s, a high mileage 4.0, and a bit of armor. I plan on swapping in 3.55s into my 98 as soon as I find a decent set of axles.
i currently have 33x10.50 km2 and 3.55 gears, and it is horrible. its just above the threshold of being un-drive-able. that being said it dose look killer and it will perform better than it looks when i do 4.88's in the spring
i am not worried to much about mileage, it will probably be better in town because i wont have to gun it all the time.

It's sluggish unless you punch it, sure, but the 4.0L will still haul *** if you do.
I wouldn't call it "un-driveable." I've been running 3.55s with my 33s for two years now. I'm just waiting on the funds to re-gear. I may even throw in an OX locker when I do, just to save on labor so I don't have to open my differentials twice.

Yea you're a little different than I will be and I understand that everyone's driving experience will be a little different. I will be adding sliders soon but I still and plan on keeping the stock bumbers but have all the stock skids so I'm lighter than you are and I'll be in DE where it's all flat. Only time I'll see a real hill is offroading most likely.
