Id do the same trim I did, about an inch and a half from the lip on the front, gives it a clean look.

Here's my XJ with 32s cut and fold front and rear I only rubbed on my lower control arm and inner fenders front and rear when flexingI cut about an in off then cut and folded another inch for the front. While the rear I cut cut and folded the lip for the fender flare

3" lift from rough country. Been on for over a year and no issues with the 32s except for the rubbing of the lower control arm and inner fender wells

I myself was going to go for a 4" back spacing if I ever got new rims. Just take a look into it using the search on here and google to find what you want
