Default 31s on stock rim

I have been looking for new tires for my 96 jeep xj I have 30x9.50s on 03 jeep wrangler rims on my xj but I was wondering if a 31x10.50 would fit on the rim? I've heard you could as long as you keep the tire pressure low enough so it doesn't wear the center of the tread out. What is everyone's thoughts?

They will work just fine on the stock wheels. Ran them myself. Plenty of other folks have too.

Most tire companies have an approved rim width of 7"-9" for a 31"x10x15" tire.

have them (well the equivalent) on my stock 7" wheels..

like stated the 10.5 in most cases are rated for a 7-9 inch rim. so no issues there..

You don't need an 8 inch wheel until you get to 12.5 wide.

Iirc, rule of thumb is you're allowed up to a 4" wider tire than the rim.

I believe your right and off-road you tend to push that to be able to air down lower.

Yes very close to that and if the OP's budget doesn't allow for other than stock rims he "May Be" OK. I'm not for sure if there will be clearance problems if everything else is stock.

I run 31x10.5 on my stock rims and rub a little bit at full lock.

There are stock 8" wheels.

WJ LCA solves the rubbing problem.
