Depends. All of my friends with 3 inches of lift wish they went just a little higher.

Recommend at least Rough Country 4.5 inches with control arm drop. That way you can always add to the lift to make it higher if you want.

Agreed, you'll want to go bigger. 4.5" is the right height and the RC kit is decent for the price, but I would definately recommend the control arm drop bracket or long arms. And the 4.5" leaf springs are short, putting the shackles at a horrible opposite angle, same with the 3" leaf springs, so shackle relocation brackets would definately help. Don't try to add a leaf to a pack of worn leafs, and DEFINATELY don't try to add a lift block, your axle wrap will be horrid.

I have the NP242 transfer case, and I installed a slip yoke eliminator through Tom Woods:

The kit comes with the SYE and the driveshaft you will need for $470. Another alternative is the hack n' tap, but I don't personally recommend it.

Haha, forgot to mention the most important part, no, I don't have a transfer case drop(yet). I am installing that in the next few days, hopefully.

I got 3.5 lift on my 88 with the 242 haven't dropped the transfer case ( I'm a tad bit ruff on the beast all I've noticed you put stress on the seal and might leak on you a very small amount after about six months or so

The most important thing if to not confuse a drivetrain vibe with death wobble. They are not the same. If you feel the vibe in your seat or with your hand on the shifter it's a drivetrain vibe, this is not likely with a 3" lift. If you feel the front tires bouncing and the steering wheel shakeing this is the death wobble. That is fixed with lower control arms, NOT steering upgrades.

Going over 3 in is a waste in my opinion unless you love the looks of it.

Sticking at 3 is a waste in my opinion unless you like looking stock and don't need much ground clearance to get around the parking lot at your local mall. You don't even see any good long arm kits for 3"

I'm no expert so I'd love to see exactly how a 4.5 gets you more ground clearance than a 3". and why would you need a "long arm" 3" lift???
