Hey I have owned my 2000 xj for a few months and am ready to lift it up. I am planning on going with the rubicon express super ride 3.5" lift. I will be using it for about 70% riding, 30% offroading, give or take. So I definitely dont want to sacrifice on road comfort. Anyways, since I am a noob I have a few questions

with this 3.5" lift, will I need:

1.) A new tracbar? or could I drill a new hole for the stock one?

2.) A SYE? Or a driveshaft? Or both?

3.) To regear? (planning on running 31" tires?

4.) A front brake hose? (it includes the rear one)

5.) Upper control arms? (It includes the front lower ones)

Anything else???

Rubicon has a kit for a 3.5" lift that includes everything you need minus a SYE
To answer your questions though- tracbar? yes. Adjustable one
SYE? Yes, which will require a new driveshaft (you can drop the transfer case and keep your stock driveshaft then no SYE needed)
Regear? No, not for 31" tires
Longer brake hoses front n rear are needed for a 3.5" lift
Upper control arms? Yes- if you lift then the uppers need to be longer


Buy the kit- it's much simpler. If you don't wheel much and nothing extreme then a TC drop is your best bet to save $$.

 

Yes buy a good Adj. Track Bar and if not included in kit a set of Sway Bar Disconnects also, a must for full flex off road. You will not need new front brake lines for that size lift all you need to do is relocate the metal brackets and the length is ok or replace if you like.


I would suggest Adj. Upper and Lower CA's so you can setup the front properly. They may let you trade out the lowers for a set of Adj. ones will cost a bit more then buy the upper.

 

Thanks for the responses! How much of a transfer case drop do you think would be needed for that size lift? I think I'll go that route to save some money

Alright what about rear control arms? And the rear track bar? I know I need to replace the front ones but what about the rear?

If you mean the rear sway bar just remove it most all the people here do.


FYI when I was running a 3" lift I ran a TC drop kit for a year till I changed everything then went with an SYE.
