I know I've seen this before but can't find it. How is wheeling for you guys with the 3.07 gears and 32-33 tires. Do you pretty much stay in 4 lo the entire time

i have 31's and i do just fine on trails and mud/sand, even with 3.07 gearing is "normal" to us and we compensate for it

Ive got 3.07s in mine with an automatic but I also have the old 4.2L instead of the 4.0L. So drivability is just like a stock XJ with 3.55 gears.

I have the dreaded 3.07s and 33's. Its not the worst thing in the world. when ever i do anything slow and need some pep I put the truck in 4 lo. I find my self switching in and out of 4lo when i am on the trail. I would probably just leave it in 4 lo the whole time but i don't like going more than third gear in lo.

That being said I have 4.88 gears ready to install in my axles to alleviate this problem.

I usually switch back and forth to. Only have 30's right now with a 3" lift and eventually want to go to a 4.5 lift with 32 or 33 tires. I've also got the rear locked

Want to go 4:10 but need to wait to drop in Ford 8.8 so I only have to re-gear front......sigh

I had a Blazer with 3.07's and 36" tires and 350 it sucked, wouldn't run over 75mph.

My XJ has the 3.07's and they're not bad.
I'm not running tall rubber though and I can slip it in to 4lo and idle over the rocky creek bed and up most hills that I have traction on.

So its not terrible.
I got a Trac-Loc limited slip coming this week I hope, to put in the rear for added traction.
It went cheap I guess because it won't work for 3.55's only 2.73-3.31's.
