2dr or 4dr ?
I'm new to xj's , looking for one now. I notice more 4dr sports than 2dr.so ultimately this rig will be a DD and i'll be towing with my Rv to fun places.
so my question is, do the 2dr cruise nice on the hiway/ I know they would be good off road [short wheel base] . Is one better than the other? I realize the 2dr will be lighter for towing.

they are the same wheelbase and the same tow capacity. its personal preference. do you have backseat passengers often? or do you prefer the sex appeal of a 2 door? if wheeled hard i have also noticed the 4 door unibodies tend to hold up better.
Wheel base the same..hmm. I was considering a four door, for possible crashing in the back seems like there's more room?

The 4 door is safer due to the extra pillars in case you ever flip. I have and love a 2 door. My seats don't recline so it is a hassle when I have more than one passenger but I love the look. I call it my Super Sport Utility Vehicle (SSUV)

I take it none of you are mechanics. Red vehicles are evil... EVIL.
OP, I have both. For function I prefer the 4 door, but for looks, 2 doors are damn sexy. Just a matter of what you like.

I like that I can have passengers in the back more easily. It's also nice to have the rear door access to the cargo area when a long item (such as a tall filing cabinet) gets caught where the rear seat back folds down. With a 2 door you have to climb into the cargo area, with a 4 door you can just open the back door and lift it up and pull it forward.

I noticed nobody balked at 96' w/130k for 4500? guess that sounds about right? He's firm on the price, but a damn clean rig.
