Default 24 Hours of LeMons in a Cherokee-

Petty Cash Racing is going to be campaigning our Cherokee next weekend in our 4th race in the 24 Hours of LeMons road race series at Infineon Raceway (Sears Point). If you're in the Bay Area, come out and catch the race in person, $20 for a ticket and pit pass.

For those of you who don't know what 24 Hours of LeMons is, it's an endurance road racing series for $500 cars. Check out the website for more specific rules, but that's the gist of of it. For more info on our XJ, take a look at this thread I posted a while ago because I was getting a lot of questions about it:

https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f67/ho...-racing-72580/

Anyway, we've actually had a lot of success, a lot of fun, and surprised a lot of people with our speed. Here are a few pics of the rig:

We're signed up to run most of the West Coast events, plus Denver. There are 22 races across the country, so not realistic to do 'em all. This is our first race of the '11 season.

Anyway, I'll keep this updated over the next week as we prep, swap in our new motor, and basically thrash about like idiots trying to get ready.

What could possibly go wrong?

Zombie Thread!

To answer your question, that race didn't go so well. We blew a motor and had to swap in a spare overnight. But, we've had a great deal of success since then, and are going to be racing our 12th race in about 10 days. We won the coveted "Index of Effluence" Grand Prize, won our class, and placed 2nd twice since I last posted. The Jeep has also evolved a little bit. Here is what it looks like now:

Yeah the old "Killer B" cars were an inspiration for sure, specifically the Renault R5 turbos. Thanks for the compliments!
