Default 2001 Jeep XJ My tribute

I just wanted to express my gratitude to Jeep and this forum for building and helping me maintain one of the most sound vehicles put on the road in recent years. I am the origional owner of a 2001 XJ 2WD sport that was purchased to be a grocery getter/boat tower/dive equipment hauler. After just completting 18 years/250000 miles I have to say this has been the most dependable vehicle I have ever owned. Any repairs that have been made since 2010 have all been inexpensive parts and could be changed by the average shade tree. I would imagine rust and "wheeling" has sent more XJ's to the grave than anything. Thanks again Jeep for building such a bullet proof vehicle.

Cool! Wish I was smart enough to purchase a Cherokee when new. Not so sure it would have survived this long. Lol. I actually had an 87 xj in 2001. I bought a used s10 blazer 4 door in 98 for over $8000. Probably should have bought a Cherokee then. More recently my wife and I bought a 2001 and were the second owners. Fortunately the first owner took really good care of it. Just recently we sold it. A few more winters driving it full time would have taken its toll as far as rust. I opted to keep the 98 SE that I picked up for $600 a couple years ago. It’s only got around 169,000 and I plan on taking this one well past 200,000. Unless I find a clean lower mileage one and can afford it. Going to slowly “restore” the 98 for now.

i’d like to express my gratitude to chrysler by punching their xj engineers in the mouth. only a few of them. like the one responsible for heater core placement, and the one responsible for using the tack welded nuts all over the inside of the chassis. great call guys.
