I see you asked this question in another thread of yours. If you're looking for a unbiased opinion and want serious answers, don't ask it on a Forum dedicated to those specific makes or models. Go to a mixed Forum (They are out there) and ask. Here you are on CHEROKEE Forum, you really expect someone to say the Toyota 4Runner is better? As for me, I could point out qualities in both that would be good for off roading, also some bad things as well.

If you ask me, that's a loaded question to ask on a Jeep Forum such as this one.

Not a stupid question. Just kinda stupid where you asked it. LOL! Do you have a friend or someone who's telling you their 4Runner is better than your Jeep? That where the questions coming from, or you looking to get a 4Runner?

Please, ask questions. That's how people learn things. Just don't forget about the search function also.

There are things you can do to a 2x Runner and make it more capable but in the long run it still wont be 4x. I have no doubts that you will regret getting the Cherokee. Lets face it, you lock the rear of the Runner and put a decent tire on it with some kind of lift.... you're going to try harder and harder things. Once you hit that spot where 4x is needed... then what? I say build a 4x unless you are set on the Toyo. You spend your money how you want though. I would spend mine on something more capable. The more capable would be the 4x hands down. No matter what brand, a 2x will never be a 4x.

sorry to bother you again but which do you think would be better on gas? I know people say that the 4 runner is not "great" on gas but how is the jeep on gas?

That's something that could have a few answers as well. lol! (see, it never ends) Depending on model and what engine/ tranny and gears you had in either would determine what your gas mileage would be.

Didn't in one of your posts here recently, you said you already had a Cherokee? What's your mileage like now?

I had a Toyota Tacoma with 6" of lift, 33" and sometimes 35" tires, 3.55s, 22re, 5 speed. My gas mileage in that was around 17 - 20. That's what I get now in my 01 Cherokee w/ auto trans and the 4.0 and 235s.

If that helps.
