Default 2000 head swap

I just bought a 2000 Cherokee from a guy who seemed like he had no clue what he was talking about. he just said it needed a new motor. so I tore it apart and found the headgasket was bad and the head has a little crack in it. I knew that 00-01 heads were known for cracking but I was wondering if you can put a 99 or older head onto a 2000 block? or should I just put a new 2000 head on it? thanks

You can put a 99 and older head on it.

The best heads flow wise are the 91-95 heads. They will bolt on with no issues, but you have to make or buy a bracket for the coil pack and plug the sending unit hole on the top of the head.

ok so that's all I would need to do to put a older head on? I don't need a different gasket or anything?

Maybe use the gasket for the year of the cylinder head just to be on the safe side.

ok I found a 95 head. I will just have to make a bracket for the coil pack and plug the sending unit? and I should use a 95 gasket? just making sure. if that's right I'm going to go get the head tomorrow
