Default 1998 Grand Cherokee noise in rear

I have a 1998 Grand Cherokee and I have an intermittent noise that sounds like it is in the right hand side, rear axial area. The noise sounds kind of like something is hitting the tire well but I know that is not. The noise is not there all the time and has went away for a day or two but it comes back.

Does anyone have suggestion on this?

Thanks,

John

Crawl under it and look around for wear marks anywhere that don't look like every wheres does.It could be a lot of things like a bad u joint to the exhaust or even rusty brakes.
